A former National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo says Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy’s behaviour towards party matters can be likened to that of a ‘NUGS [National Union of Ghana Students] president’.

“His behaviour and reactions to matters within the party is as though he is still the National NUGS President which he was sometime in the 80s,” he said.

This follows a statement issued by Dr. Arthur Kennedy on Thursday accusing presidential candidate hopeful of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo of being responsible for the Tuesday’s violence at the party’s headquarters.

Some angry youth besieged the premises with guns and machetes threatening the lives of some party executives for the dismissal of the acting communications director, Perry Okudzeto.

Nana Addo has however denied the allegations describing them as “irresponsible and unfounded.”

On Eyewitness News, Karbo said despite the “malicious, opportunistic allegations”, Ghanaians are aware Nana Addo will never be responsible for such a criminal act.

He described Dr. Arthur Kennedy’s statement as “most unfortunate” adding that it one would have expected that he [Arthur Kennedy] would have been in Ghana to support the party as it goes through “difficult and trying times.”

Karbo noted that the youth in the NPP are “utterly disgusted” at the increasing blame game in the media by some leaders of the party.

According to him, Arthur Kennedy’s statement is causing the party to “reel in pain” while he is “cooling off somewhere in the United States of America.”

The former youth leader dismissed claims by the NPP chairman, Paul Afoko that Tuesday’s violence was orchestrated by political opponents.

“These are party people who acted in a way that must be condemned because it is shameful; it is unacceptable for a civilized political party like the NPP.”

He admonished the elders of the party to condemn the act and take responsibility and apologize to the entire nation.
