The immediate past acting Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Rev. Albert Opkoti Botchway has resigned from his position on the hospital board.
In his resignation letter to the Health Minister dated Friday, July 25, Rev. Botchway asked the sector Minister to convey his appreciation to the President “for the confidence he reposed in me in appointing me to the position.”
The former CEO has been at the center of raging controversy over alleged mismanagement of the hospital and its resources.
The Senior Staff Association of the hospital has on several occasions called for his dismissal as the acting CEO and a total dissolution of the board.
In the midst of the controversy, theimmeiate past Hleath Minister, Sherry Ayittey directed Rev. Botchway to step down as acting CEO and revert to his position on the hospital board.
But he was later re-appointed last week by the current sector Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah.
However, the President, John Mahama on Thursday appointed Dr. Gilbert Buckle to assume the position of acting CEO of Korle Bu.
