Ghana has experienced a mixed bag in the boxing events held so far on Saturday 26th July at the SECC Hall in Glasgow.
Lightweight Jesse Lartey gained a walkover in his bout with Tanzania’s Nassar Mafuru Mafuru to progress but Musah Lawson could not follow suit as he lost to Canada’s Arthur Biyarslanov 29-28 over three rounds.
Ghana’s boxing campaign will now have to be driven by the other members of the team who have bouts in the next few days.
Abdul Omar fights Junior Kauko Raka of Papua New Guinea on the 27th of July in the Men’s Flyweight contest.
David Akankolim will fight in the Men’s light heavyweight contest against Kennedy St. Pierre on the 27th of July.
Sulemanu Tetteh will also be in action in the Men’s light flyweight round of 16. He will face Donovan Gerie of Mauritius on the 28th of July while Azumah Mohammed will take on Scott Fitzgerald of England in the Men’s Welterweight division on the 28th of July.
Haruna Osumanu will begin his Super heavyweight run against Uganda’s Mike Sekabembe on the 29th of July.
