Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to his kinsmen, Konkombas to stop fighting and invest in the education of their children.
Daniel Bugri said education remained the solution to the underdevelopment of Konkomba communities particularly in the Northern Region.
He made the appeal at a meeting with leaders of the troubled Yiyamba and Biriyamba dispersed farming communities in the Gushiegu district.
Recent renewed clashes between two Konkomba clans at Yiyamba and Biriyamba resulted in the death of four persons.
Daniel Bugri regretted that Konkombas have become popular in the mass media for negative reasons.
He advised Konkomba youth to shun self seeking individuals or groups who use them to cause mayhem in their communities.
Daniel Bugri Naabu later brought leaders of the feuding factions together at Biriyamba to smoke the peace pipe.
On behalf of the NPP, he donated an undisclosed amount and schnapps to elders of the two communities and urged them to co-exist peacefully.
Leaders of the two communities thanked Daniel Bugri Naabu for his for his intervention and pledged their commitment to sustain the fragile peace in their localities.
