The African University College of Communications (AUCC) is set to open a centre for broadcast journalism in memory of the late Komla Dumor.
According to the University, the late journalist epitomized the core values on which the University was built hence the decision to honor him.
The Academic Board also disclosed that, the center’s main focus would be special training programs, workshops, public lectures, international conferences, and the publishing of papers and books on broadcasting.
Professor Ernest Dumor, father of the late iconic African broadcaster has agreed to be the first Chair of the Komla Dumor Centre for Broadcast Journalism to be established in the University.
As a father, he contributed immensely to the career of Komla Dumor. He says modestly, “Komla’s mother and I had an influence on him but we are grateful that he has become an icon for many and a gem for many more to come”.
The centre will be officially launched in the latter part of 2014.
