The Ahamansu Circuit, an educational supervising authority in Kejebi in the Volta region has made an urgent appeal to government to come to the aid of the Ahamansu EP Junior High School, which was gutted by fire last weekend.

The fire is believed to have been caused by piles of charcoal left in various classrooms by the school authorities.

Sources reveal that the school occasionally engages both students and teachers in charcoal production to generate funds to pay tutors in the school.

However after paying a visit to the school, the Ahamansu circuit supervisors bemoaned the situation of the school, hence the call on government to come to the aid of the school in other to restore teaching and learning in the school.

The Ahamansu Circuit Supervisor, Gideon Asiwomey in an interview Citi News urged government to assist the school saying, “As it is now it’s so bad. We are at the mercy of the weather.”

Mr. Asiwomey also mentioned that the school building was dilapidated and was therefore in dire need of a refurbishment.

“The school block is an old structure; it has been there for about fifty-four years. The government or authorities concerned should cut the roof and renovate it.”

He ended by saying that the circuit had borrowed classroom furniture from a neighboring town to assist the school in finishing its end of term examinations this week.
