The National Union of Ghana student (NUGS) is asking all Ghanaian students to support the Ghana National Union of Professional Students (GNUPS) to get the striking Polytechnic teachers back into the classrooms.
Speaking to Citi News, the President of NUGS, Samuel Darkwa Binfoh explained, “look at the fact that students have to go home or students cannot complete school, just because of an impasse between government and lecturers, where the students have not committed any crime, nor done any sin and they have prepared everything to complete school. Because of this impasse all this hardship is being brought on them.”
GNUPS have already served notice of a nationwide demonstration to get their teachers back into the classroom. Mr. Darkwa stated that the union will support GNUPS to fights its course. NUGS is calling on all Ghanaian students to support GNUPS.
He added that, “looking at it, we’ll realize that our colleagues have embarked on a couple of activities to ensure that this impasse is brought to an end. But as it stands now, no results have been seen yet. We have accordingly petitioned key people in specific organizations, we are putting our hopes on them that if nothing is done, they would add their voice.”
