A New Patriotic Party presidential hopeful for the 2016 elections, Mr John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has stated that even though his doors are open, those campaigning in his name must be mindful of his humility and firm belief in fair play.

He welcomed support from well- wishers for his presidential bid, but cautioned that he would not buy into actions that were vitriolic.

Interacting with the media in Accra last Friday, Mr Kyerematen declared that “the Alan story has not been told”, and pointed out that he could make a difference in the governance of the country.

“By combination of good fortune and providence, this time we will succeed,” he asserted during the interaction.

As one who aspires to be President of the country, Mr Kyeremanten said his greatest asset would be the media because of its unparalleled role in nation building.

On economy

On the economy, Mr Kyerematen said that “Ghana will not be the same; it is all about leadership.”

He said that even in the planned and most industrialised countries,  it was always one leader who emerged to change the fortunes of the people.

“With all humility I can make a difference in the fortunes of this country,” he said.

Spokesperson

His spokesperson, Mr Ohene Ntow,  who was officially introduced to the media, pointed out that the  Alan Campaign Team was not going to stop people who, on their own, showed goodwill towards the campaign by their pronouncements.

He, however, said “all such pronouncements must be devoid of falsehood and bickerings.”

He also asked the media to support the “Alan Campaign for President”  by giving him (Ntow) the opportunity to set the records straight before putting any information in the public domain.

He was reacting to a media report that Mr Kyerematen had supported Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 2012 campaign with $5 million and 40 vehicles.

While admitting that Mr Kyerematen played his part in the campaign of Nana Akufo Addo, Mr Ntow dismissed the report as false, and that it  did not emanate from his outfit.

Alan Profile

Mr  Kyerematen made an attempt at the leadership of the New Patriotic Party in 2007, capturing 32.3 per cent of  the votes cast. He was first runner-up to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who had 47.96 per cent of the votes cast. Alan supported Nana Akufo-Addo to galvanise Asante votes in the 2008 run-off. He made a second attempt at the leadership in 2010 where he placed second to Nana Akufo Addo. Alan is contesting the NPP flagbearer position for the third time.
