Players and officials of the Black Stars are stranded in their camping base in Maceio after their painful first round elimination from the ongoing Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Players and officials of the Ghana team were expected to leave Maceio today for Ghana but failed to do so due to flight difficulties.
According to a source close to the team, the team is in a dilemma now after an arrangement with a American airline fell through.
The source said the FA in its desperation sought the intervention of Ethiopian Airlines who will likely send one of its Boeing 787 aircrafts to lift the entire team back home.
It revealed that as of today (Saturday) FA officials were in talks with Ethiopian Airlines over a chartered flight to send the team home.
However, it is still not certain when the team will finally arrive in Accra.
It was Ethiopian Airlines which airlifted all the Ghanaian supporters to Brazil to rally behind the Black Stars.
The Stars have been revelling in their $100,000 jackpot in camp since Thursday after losing to Portugal.
The memorable celebration of their delayed appearance fees by players and officials of the Black Stars on Wednesday night went viral on the Internet but the Ghana team could not wait to continue with the grand party as they flew back straight to their camping base in Maceio immediately after their 1-2 defeat to Portugal in Brasilia last Thursday.
The Stars earned so much without a win in their third straight Wold Cup after drawing 2-2 with Germany and losing to both USA and Portugal by a 2-1 margin in Group G.
Disgraced Kevin-Prince Boateng was the first to leave the Stars camp after the announcement of his indefinite suspension alongside Sulley Muntari for sheer indiscipline.
Muntari, who reportedly followed suit later on, was left in camp in shame when his teammates were going to play Portugal in Brasilia.
Muntari allegedly exchanged punches with Black Stars Management Committee member, Moses Armah, aka Mospacka, during a meeting in camp last Tuesday and subsequently damaged the FA Committee member’s three mobile phones and a new laptop.
Boateng who had been unruly in camp right from the start of the Brazil 2014 World Cup also ended up exchanging words with Coach Kwasi Appiah at training last Monday.
