The Ashanti Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is planning to throw party to welcome its former Secretary, Joseph Yamin back to the region as a Deputy Minister.
President John Mahama on Saturday moved Joseph Yamin from the Sports Ministry to the Ashanti Region as Deputy Regional Minister.
The decision has generated huge outcry from some Ghanaians who firmly believe Mr. Yamin should have been out rightly dismissed from government.
The Deputy Sports Minister came under attack when he publicly announced that government was airlifting $3million cash to the Black Stars in Brazil to curb player agitations.
Many deemed government’s decision as an embarrassment to the nation.
Reports on issue in the international media reports has increased calls for the dismissal of the Deputy Sports Minister.
However Mr. Yamin took to social media thank President Mahama for his mercy in re-assigning as Deputy Minister for the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Raymond Tandoh in an interview with Citi News, the region needs Joseph Yamin to improve the party’s fortunes in the 2016 elections.
He stated that Yamin’s presence in the region will “improve our systems, our programmes and our organizational structures we have put in place for the 2016 elections.”
Mr. Tandoh insisted that the welcome party will take place “whether he [Yamin] likes it or not.”
