‘The maestro himself has passed on’ – Kofi Ansah’s son

The son of renowned Ghanaian fashion designer, Kofi Ansah, has confirmed the death of his father to Citi News.

Mr. Ansah reportedly died on Saturday after he was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The news of his death broke on the various social media networks with people expressing shock at his demise.

In a short interview with Citi News however, Andrew Ansah disclosed that the family will officially announce the details of the demise of his father in due time.

“It has to be the family that will disclose it so let’s wait. But Yes; what you are seeing on the internet is true…The maestro himself has passed on,” he confirmed.

Kofi Ansah is one of foremost Ghanaian fashion designers to have received international recognition.

He is credited for designing the Ghana @ 50 anniversary fabric and also designed the costumes for the performers of both the opening and the closing ceremonies of the CAN 2008 African Cup of Nations which was hosted in Ghana.

Mr. Ansah was considered one of the foremost fashion designers to have changed the face of fashion designing in Ghana and Africa.

He was a founding member and a past president of the Federation of African Designers.

Until his death, he owned Artdress, a design and creative concept company through which he developed the art of clothing design, concept collections, and consultancy to develop products and company promotions, and the marketing of their products through fashion shows.
