Alliance for Youth in Social Democracy (AYSD), a pro National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth group in Tamale in the Northern Region is urging the former Communications Director for Mills administration, Koku Anyidoho, to contest the position of Deputy General Secretary when nominations are opened.
They believe Mr. Anyidoho’s contributions in the party cannot be underestimated and are therefore, calling on all well meaning members of the party to persuade him to contest.
“Considering his contributions to the party, the time has come for him to play a pivoted role in administering the affairs of the party and the post of deputy general secretary is most appropriate” they asserted.
In a statement signed by Abdul Rafik Fuseini, Communications Director of the group, he explained that Mr. Anyidoho was part of the youth who worked for the party in opposition when the party lost political power in 2000 and a member of the youth forum that worked tirelessly for the late President John Mills.
The group described him as hardworking and a grassroot member of the party who will operate an open door administration to motivate members to retain power in 2016.
The statement noted the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the congress in Tamale elected a strong team and the likes of Mr. Anyidoho as leaders of the NDC can work to keep the NPP in opposition.
The group called for peace and unity in the party and encouraged members to take the on-going biometric registration of membership serious.
