The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has restored power to all the areas affected by the explosion at the Achimota Sub-station.
Most areas in Accra were on Wednesday plunged into darkness when an explosion occurred at the Achimota Sub-Station.
Power was restored to some areas by Thursday morning but others were still in darkness.
Head of Public Affairs at GRIDCo, Robert Quainoo, told Eyewitness News, his outfit worked tirelessly to ensure power was restored around 3pm on Thursday.
“We are now in the position to carry all the power being generated by the generators from our main switch yard in Tema to consumers in Tema,” he stated.
According to him, power has been restored to all parts of Accra with the exception of areas scheduled for load shedding.
“The load shedding starts at 6pm so if at 6pm you don’t have electricity, it is from the load shedding programme,” Mr. Quainoo explained.
He clarified that the explosion on Wednesday “does not change the situation [energy crisis]. We still have a power deficit that has to be met through load shedding.”
