With three match days left in the First Capital Plus Premier League, Kpando Heart of Lions have stated their desire to have a go at winning the league title this season.
Lions emerged 1-0 winners over Medeama Sporting Club last Sunday to close the gap to within seven points of leaders Asante Kotoko and they are now readying themselves for a shot at the title even though that will require Kotoko to slip up to New Edubiase on Wednesday.
However, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Eric Collins Odoom, told Citi Sports in an interview on Monday that the title is well in their sights.
” We have been able to reduce the gap between Kotoko and us to seven points now that we have beaten Medeama. If we are able to beat Amidaus on Wednesday, we will be in to cause an upset.”
Lions scored late against Medeama on Sunday in an outstanding league fixture to set them up for a title shot and Odoom highlighted the importance of the result to the rest of their campaign and their ambitions of winning the title and competing in the continental competitions for the first time.
” We were excited at the result because it broke a recent poor run ( a draw with Aduana Stars on Match Day 25 and a loss to Dwarfs on Match Day 26). The fans deserved it and the win will boost confidence in camp.”
Lions will play away against Amidaus, at home to King Faisal and away to AshantiGold in their final three fixtures in the First Capital Plus Premier League.
