Citi News has gathered the Eastern Regional Police Command will be meeting to announce security strategies for the region, especially for Kwahu ahead of the Easter holidays.
Information reaching Citi News indicates that there has been several robbery cases in Kwahu and its surrounding areas raising security concerns.
Residents say the usual police patrols in the area have stopped for some time now which they believe is the cause of the rise in robbery cases.
In a related development, the Police Administration has indicated it has beefed up security arrangements across the country ahead of the Easter celebrations.
According the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, armed personnel will patrol in and out of town to ensure criminals are kept at bay during the season.
DSP Arthur assured the public of their full protection adding that the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) will embark on a decongestion exercise on all routes leading to Kwahu.
The MTTD he said, “will be on the truck roads, the highways, the feeder roads leading to Kwahu…they are all going to be populated by the MTTD officers. They are going to ensure that drivers who are plying the roads.”
According to him, all drivers will be made to observe to the latter, traffic regulations to prevent traffic fatalities during the period.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has declared Friday 18th and Monday 21st April as statutory public holidays and has urged the citizenry to acknowledge it as such.
