Union Savings and Loans Company has opened a new branch in Nmai-Dzorn in Adentan Municipality in the Greater Accra Region to serve and inject capital into the operations of small and medium scale enterprises in the area.
The branch is the newest addition to the 10 existing branches of the company in the Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Nmai-Dzorn branch of the company, the Managing Director, Philip Oti-Mensah, said the move was to improve the lives of the people in the area and also to enable them to take full advantage of the growing economy of the municipality.
He noted that Union was one of the oldest savings and loans companies in Ghana, having operated in the financial sector for the past 25 years customers can, therefore, “count on us as a long-term partner.”
Mr Oti-Mensah stated that his company has about 30,000 clients in all its branches who have been doing business with the company for over 10 years, ”and this is the experience we shall bring to bear here in Nmai Djorn”.
He described Union as a bank in practice, a tier 2 bank that is able to serve all the banking needs of current potential clients.
”Therefore let me emphasize that one’s decision to choose Union as a financial partner should be based entirely on our ability to deliver on our promise of rapid banking, exceptional service, as we have the track record and are ready to do more to serve you better,” he added.
According to the managing director, the company also has qualified personnel who would continually create innovative, technology-based and tailored products and services to exceed clients’ expectations.
The Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong who was the special guest at the function challenged Union to come up with products for young and beginning entrepreneurs pointing out that the biggest challenge facing small businesses in Ghana is access to funds.
He, however, urged banks and financial institutions to develop products that will support and assist small scale businesses to grow.
‘’Banks and financial institutions should identify and develop young people and businesses and cut down on their demands from small businesses.’’
Assemblywoman for the area, Gladys Tetteh on her part charged residents of her assembly save with Union as its ready to serve the community with its high customer service standards.
She also asked Union to fast track the provision of its ATM to provide easy access to cash after banking hours.
