water shortageTwo days after maintenance works at the Kpong water treatment plant was completed, residents in the eastern parts of Accra, Tema and its environs say they are still experiencing water shortages.

The Ghana Water Company assured that the maintenance works would add additional three million gallons of water after completion.

A resident of Tema who spoke to Citi News, said “I haven’t seen any of the officials of Ghana Water Company around”

Another said “we are managing with the shortage; we have to buy water from other people.”

“We complained to the Ghana Water company and they are yet to respond to us.”

However residents in the above mentioned areas say they still don’t have water. According to Citi News’ correspondent at Tema, Elvis Washington, residents in Tema and Accra are still experiencing water shortage.

Meanwhile the Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Water Company Limited, Michael Agyemang Prempeh says although his outfit has completed the maintenance works, they are still rationing water.

According to him, “residents in Ashaiman will get water on Thursday, while Sakumono, Lashibi and its environs will get their share of the rationing on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.”

Mr. Agyemang added that the 3.3 million gallons of water will be produced daily after the maintenance will be ready for distribution after 3 months.
