policeThe Northern Regional Police Command has identified a group known as Kandaha, as being the brain behind the shooting of a 26-year-old man in Aboabo in the Tamale on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Mustafa Abdul Rashid was shot on Monday leaving residents in a state of fear.

A similar incident occurred last Saturday where another man was shot in his home and eventually died on Monday.

Speaking to Citi News, Deputy Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP Mathew Appiagyei indicated that the group began its operation after a press conference which ended up in violence and gun shots.

Some Police personnel were subsequently deployed to the area with assistance from the Military “to curb the violence and the situation is now calm.”

ACP Appiagyei said his outfit has beefed up security presence in the area and investigations are ongoing “to unravel what prompted them to organize the press conference which resulted in gunshots.”

The Police and Military personnel are patrolling the area while other security measures have been put in place to safeguard the peace in the area.
