An Accra Fast Track High court has slapped 100,000 Ghana cedis in damages on Merchant Bank for unlawfully dismissing its former Managing director, Blaise Mankwah.
The bank is to also pay all terminal benefits due Mr Mankwah.
Blaise Mankwah, and two others were fired from the bank for allegedly granting some loans without doing due dilligence.
The court presided over by Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh however denied defamation damages requested by the counsel for the plaintiff, Blaise Mankwah.
Merchant bank will also pay the court administrative cost of 5,000 Ghana cedis.
The court also ruled that Blaise Mankwah must also pay Merchant bank a sum of 86,463.99 cedis or return the bank’s properties in his possession.
