President John Drammani Mahama has disclosed that plans are under way to construct a number of sports arenas around the various regions in the country.

The President revealed this in the reading of the State Of the Nation Address in Parliament.

“Government last year reviewed drawings of the sports arenas and sports senior high schools to be established in the regions and we expect construction work to begin soon when all procurement formalities are concluded” he said.

This adds to a number of sports infrastructural programs that the government plans to undertake including a new stadium in Cape Coast which is currently under construction.

The President lauded the contribution of sports to the development of the nation.
