kotoko-and-didi2Abdul Yusif Aziz’s late goal got Asante Kotoko a 3-2 victory over Istanbul  in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 at the Baba Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Felix Addo drew the first blood for the away team – a division one side – after 30 minutes, before Aminu Mohammed got the equaliser for the Ghana Premier leaders on the 40th minute from Stephen Oduro’s defence splitting pass.

Larbi Koomson, new signing for the Porcupine  Warriors connected a spectacular free kick just outside the 18 yard box to put them in the lead, but the skipper of  Istanbul Eric Adjei brought the game level.

With the game on the verge of a penalty shootout, Abdul Aziz headed in the match winner to bring a sigh of relief to coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani.

Berekum Chelsea fell to shocking 1-0 home defeat by Inter Allies in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 on Sunday.

Abdul Fatau Nafiu scored the match winner to eliminate Chelsea at the Golden City Park. And the win gives Inter Allies, who are struggling in the Premier League a chance of competing for the title.

The loss further prolongs Chelsea’s hopes of ever reaching the semi-finals.
