There is more pressure on the New Patriotic Party’s ( NPP) 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo- Addo to run for the third consecutive time despite asking for some time to announce his decision.

Some Members of Parliament in the Eastern Region and newly elected regional executives of the NPP,who paid a courtesy call on Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence on Monday insisted that they will compel Mr. Akufo Addo to lead the party in 2016 even if he decides not to.

According to Citi FM’s Sammy Wiafe, although it had not been confirmed that Nana Akufo- Addo will run again, there were clear indications that he would be elected as the Presidential candidate of the party.

This, he said, was evident in the regional executives’ statement that “we hope to see you in 2016 when you start your campaigns.”

“Infact what they said was that whether he decides to run or not to run, they will force him to run,” he added.

He also stated that the executives asked Mr. Akufo -Addo to make up his mind so they can start campaigning for them.

Nana Akufo- Addo announced his decision to  take some time off politics after after a nine member panel of Supreme Court justices dismissed a petition brought by three stalwarts of the party who alleged fraud during the 2012 presidential elections.

This ,however, did not sit well with some members of the party who are insisting Mr. Akufo -Addo leads the party in 2016.
