Former board member of Asante Kotoko, Alhaji Ahmed Bando, has stated that the Porcupine Warriors will go past Liberian side Barracks Young Controllers in Sunday’s CAF Champions League first round second leg tie.
Kotoko will be in Monrovia to defend a 2-1 lead from the first leg on Sunday 9th February, 2014 and Alhaji Bando has expressed his confidence in the players to wrap qualification up.
” I believe that Kotoko will lift their game on Sunday so that they can progress over two legs.
I urge all fans to support the team and be patient, especially as the Liberians played well in Ghana”, said Bando in an interview with Metro TV on Thursday.
Alhaji Bando indicated this Kotoko team possessed enough quality to make it to the group stages and even challenge for the trophy that has not been won by the Reds since they last won it in 1983.
” Kotoko can go far in this year’s Champions League. The group stage is the immediate target and that is an objective that can be attained.
Of course, winning the competition is very important but even if they do not, I think that they can easily get to the group stages.”
