The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has joined the traders at the Adehyeman gardens in their legal suit against Nana Osei Tutu, a private developer of the area for demolishing their shops.
This was announced by the Kumasi Mayor, Kwadwo Bonsu at a press conference.
Giving reasons for the suit, Mr. Bonsu said that sometime in 2012, the Head of the Kwaku Kra family of Ahenkro instituted a legal action against the KMA, claiming a ownership of a parcel of land and sought for perpetual injunction to refrain the assembly from interfering.
The assembly said it entered an agreement and filed a statement of defense.
According to the Mayor, the plaintiff filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction against the assembly .
The Assembly however, filed their position to their application.
According to the Mayor, the Assembly has officially filed an application to join the suit against the traders in court and that the matter has been scheduled for hearing on the 25th of February, 2014.
He assured the traders that he will use all means to ensure that the traders are compensated.
