The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has apprehended one Maxwell Doe, the Managing Director of Maxi Spark Enterprise, for secretly producing and distributing fake alcoholic beverages.

From a location at New Jerusalem, near Afienya, Mr Doe produces fake Castle Bridge London Dry Gin, Mandingo Bitters and Herb Afrik alcoholic beverages.

The FDA in a statement said it has seized 21 cartons of Castle Bridge London Dry Gin, 21 cartons of empty Bottles, 4 cartons of Mandingo Bitters and some manufacturing raw materials from the said manufacturing facility.

Further investigations on the operations of the suspect have also revealed that he has been operating since May 2013 and supplies the fake products to some shops located at Golf City (Tema) and Akosombo.

The FDA has locked up the said production facility and handed over the culprit to the Police CID for further investigations.

The general public especially distributors and retailers of alcoholic beverages are advised to beware of where they source their supplies since they are equally culpable if they sell or distribute unwholesome and unregistered products to the unsuspecting public.

The FDA assured the public of its readiness to ensure public health and safety at all times and appealed to the general public to give any information on persons suspected to be in any practice possible of endangering public health and safety.
