The Member of Parliament for Wulensi Alhaji Saani Idi has passed away after battling with an illness for sometime now.
The independent candidate died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where according to reports, he was pronounced dead on Friday.
The MP was said to be growing lean and frail due to the illness and was admitted at the nation's premier hospital.

The late Wulensi MP’s family relation, Zakari Yussif in an interview with Citi News confirmed the sad news saying “this morning we woke up to the sad news that our Honourable MP Alhaji Saani Iddi had passed.
Currently the atmosphere in Wulensi is a bit gloomy because this is sad news and distasteful.”
He was uncertain as to whether the late Alhaji Saani Iddi’s mortal remains will either be buried in Accra or airlifted to Wulensi for burial.
Alhaji Saani Iddi hailed from Wulensi and he was one of the founding fathers of the NPP in the constituency.
He won the Wulensi seat on the ticket of the NPP in 2006.
He was defeated during the 2000 elections by an NDC candidate but was subsequently appointed by former President J.A Kufuor as the District Chief Executive for Wulensi.
He lost his portfolio during President Kufour’s second tenure of office and but contested the Wulensi seat as an independent candidate and won in 2008.
