UNESCO is committed to quality education – Dr. Irina Bokova
The Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong has appealed to the Director General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Dr. Irina Bokova, to help upgrade the standard of the education in the region.
According to the Minister, although most of the best schools can be found in the region, the youth in the region does not take advantage of it but rather engage in fishing.
He indicated that when the schools are upgraded, it will help encourage most of the youth to go back to school so that they can benefit from the help from UNESCO.
Speaking at the Elmina Castle as part of her familiarization tour, the Director General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dr. Irina Bokova pledged her support to the region.
According to her, her mission of becoming the director general is to focus on the education so her priority is to make sure that “quality education is being assessed by young people in the world especially in Ghana.”
