Ashanti Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has told Citi News
that it would ensure that residents living in the flood-prone areas in Kumasi adhere to a directive from the police to relocate to prevent possible deaths in the case of floods.
The police issued the directive after six people who died last week as a result of flooding in some parts of the region.
In an interview with Citi News
the Ashanti Regional NADMO coordinator Aninkora Asie stated that NADMO would ensure that all residents comply with the directive.
“The enforcement would be from the metropolitan and district assembly” he stated.
He added although many of the residents have left to be with friends and relatives a number of them are still residing in these waterlogged areas.
He noted that NADMO would meet with authorities in order to know the way forward.
