The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service have said it is yet to roll out its “on the spot fine” operations.
The operation is expected to get drivers who commit traffic offenses pay a spot fine as punishment.
A publication in today’s edition of the Ghanaian Times Newspaper
suggested that the operation has so far spot fined over 30 drivers in the Accra metropolis but Director of Education and Research at the MTTU, DSP Alex Kwaku Obeng said the programme was yet to be rolled out.
“As far as we are concerned, the spot fine operation has not started…we have not embarked on any operation that offenders issued with spot fines. We are yet to put structures in place but on our own, we haven’t done anything yet,” he stated.
