My father is still alive: Aliu Mahama's son speaks The son of the former Vice President of Republic of Ghana (Alhaji Aliu Mahama), Farouk Aliu Mahama has revealed that his father is in stable condition.

His comments follow earlier reports on some social media platforms and some media outlets that the former Vice President had died.

The former Vice President has however been on admission at the hospital for over a week.

Speaking to Citi News from the hospital at 14.30 GMT however, Farouk Aliu Mahama stated that his father was alive and in stable condition.

“Whatever they are speculating is not the truth so all I can say is keep us in prayers. The man is alive and Allah will give him speedy recovery and he will join all Ghanaians to thank them for their support.”

According to him, in Islam, it is a sign of long life when a person is pronounced dead “and we know that Allah is the one who gives and takes and with the prayers of all Ghanaians, Isha Allah, he is going to be fine.”

Farouk Aliu Mahama however cautioned persons who were reporting that his father had passed away to "keep their falsehood to themselves and try to get factual facts before circulating information into the public."
