The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged the northern electorates to vote massively for the party on December 7.
He argued the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) had nothing new to offer Northerners hence the need to reject President John Mahama at the ballot.
Dr.
Bawumia was addressing an enthusiastic crowd in Gushegu where he reiterated the NPP’s commitment to make Senior High School education free.
“With issues concerning free Senior High School education for people of the North, the NDC believes the NPP cannot deliver on the promise of free secondary education.
They have come up with many arguments in a desperate attempt to derail a promise which is really going to benefit a lot of Ghanaian children and which is very supported across Ghana,” Dr.
Bawumia said.
Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate further stated that one of the arguments that were being raised was the lack of school infrastructure to implement the policy.
“This is a rather curious and spurious argument.
If President Kwame Nkrumah had this type of reasoning, he would not have introduced free education to the North because at the time of independence when the free education policy in the North was instituted, the North had only one Tamale Middle Boarding School which served all the three Northern regions,” he argued.
