A Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Akilu Sayibu, has lauded President Nana Akufo-Addo for the launch of the One-District One-Warehouse project.
The project, according to Mr. Sayibu, will help exporters and potential exporters in terms of storage of their produce in the various districts.
In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Sayibu explained that the warehouses will aid both exporters and potential exporters under the One District, One Exportable Product initiative, which the Ghana Export Promotion Authority has embarked upon in all the 216 districts of Ghana.
He said, the One District One Warehouse initiative under the planting for food and jobs spearheaded by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, will be a great support to exporters in the area of warehousing.
“The issue of storage of farm produce came up strongly in the various regional seminars of GERA, and regarding the One District One Exportable Product, it will be addressed by this One district One warehouse project.”
The Ghana Export Promotion Authority is currently embarking on stakeholder seminars across all districts of the country on a ‘One District One Exportable Project’ initiative, aimed at increasing earnings from non-traditional exports of Ghana to 10 billion dollars in four years.
The regional seminars have taken place in the Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the three regions of the North.
Mr. Sayibu commended government’s paperless programme at the ports, saying the GERA was committed to supporting government policies and programmes aimed at promoting the interest of exporters.
