Relative calm has returned to the troubled Walewale Township in the Northern Region following a political clash between two rival youth groups of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The police have intensified their patrols there to ensure maximum orderliness.

He pleaded with supporters of the two main political parties to exercise maximum restraint during their campaign trail in the area.
He warned that the police will not spare any group of persons attempting to flout the law under the pretext of politics.
DSP Obrako Sarpong Bempah admitted that Walewale is one of the identified political hotspots in the Northern Region but assured residents of their safety before, during and after the 2016 polls.
According to him, the Northern Regional police command has adequately resourced his division to protect lives and property as the political momentum heats up in the area.
He called for peaceful coexistence to attract investors to the district which is bedevilled with infrastructural deficit.
