The Bolgatanga branch of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the Upper East Region, has endorsed Abdul Rahman Latifa as their parliamentary candidate to contest for the Bolgatanga Central constituency seat in the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled for November 7.
Mrs. Latifa is a 30 year old professional teacher. She teaches at the Yorogo Asogrobiisi Primary School and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in education at the University of Education, Winneba.
The Upper East regional chairman of the party, Alhaji Baba Hussaini Ibrahim, called on all party supporters to throw their support behind Mrs. Latifa as she is the only woman who is contesting for the Bolgatanga central seat and to support her to win that seat for the CPP in the region.
He urged all CPP members in the constituency to actively campaign to garner more votes for Mrs. Latifa to win the seat come November 7.
Abdul Rahman Latifa told Citi News that her campaign will center on Education, sanitation and women empowerment to foster development in the area, and appealed to all residents in the constituency to give women a chance to take up leadership positions by voting massively for her to change the lives of all in the constituency.
She also called for women empowerment and motivation of women to take up leadership positions in the country and at all levels in their respective constituencies.
“I will provide small libraries for all communities in my constituency when I am voted into office as the Member of parliament. I urge women to boldly come out and contest the various constituency elections with the men” she stated.
She also urged all political parties to admonish their supporters, especially the youth, to desist from negative behaviours that will create tension and destabilize the nation before, during and after the November 7 general elections.
