Fly 540 to resume operations in October under new name Royal Fly-Gh

Domestic airline operator Fly540, which suspended its operations some months ago, will resume operations in October, 2015.

Citi Business News has learnt the airline, upon resumption of operations will bear a new name, Royal Fly-Gh.

The local airline has already begun re-branding under its new name with new colors and a fresh logo.

Fly540 Ghana, one of four domestic airlines in the country, in May 2014 suspended operations as part of a restructuring exercise which saw some of its staff going to court over delayed severance packages.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) had earlier told Citi Business News that the authority was reviewing the new structure of FLY540 before granting the airline permission to resume operations.

The airline’s application follows its acquisition by new investors.

Citi Business News has learnt the airline when it resumes operation, will not only ply local routes but international ones as well.

Royal Fly-GH then FLY 540 was incorporated in Ghana on 10th November 2008 and was given a certificate to commence business on 11th November 2008.

Royal Fly-GH started operating internal flights from Accra to Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale from the year 2012.

Royal Fly-GH later introduced two sub-regional services to Abidjan and Freetown.
