The Steering Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to meet next week to set a new date for Parliamentary primary in the Klottey Korle constituency.
[contextly_sidebar id=”tYPyQihJSdSKRFCmXG49ATMwmvNrZrdV”]This is after a High Court in Accra threw out an injunction seeking to stop the primary.
Six party members — Ebenezer Acquah, George Attor Williams, Juliana Briandt, Michael Nana Nkansa, Edward Quansah and Mary Crentsil had gone to court praying it to declare Nii Noi Nortey, one of the aspirants unfit to contest the crucial polls because they claim he presented a fake certificate to the vetting committee of the party.
The court, presided over by Justice Ofori Attah dismissed the application saying the plaintiffs failed to prove how the an injunction would affect the NPP ahead of the 2016 elections.
Many have accused another aspirant Lawyer Philip Addison of scheming to get Nii Nortey disqualified to pave way for him to become the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2016 election.
