Ghana is to host the first edition of wines of South Africa Grand Tasting Tour 2015 event on Friday, July 17 at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

The event, which is an initiative of ‘Wines of South Africa’, a non – profit organisation is to promote the world acclaimed South African wines to consumers around the world.

The maiden edition is in partnership with Jon William Events Company and is expected to bring more than 20 wine producers from South Africa to Ghana to interact with consumers, distributors and wholesalers as well as the hospitality and tourism practitioners.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr Bill Bedzrah, Corporate Business Manager, Jon Williams Consult said Ghana was selected as the first destination in West Africa due to many factors, including the great hospitality and business environment.

It expressed the hope that the event in Ghana will be an experience for Ghanaians, comparable to any wine tasting event in the world, since the country holds an enviable position as a favorite investment destination in the sub – region and with a strong bond of business between the country and South Africa.

Mr Matome Mbatha, Market Manager for Africa and the Americas, expressed  enthusiasm about the event and expressed the hope that it will become an annual event to make the country one of the favorite wine destinations on the continent.

The event will also serve as a prelude to the grand event in Cape Town South Africa in September.

The event will include a professional Wine Course Training session for Hospitality and Tourism operators like Restaurants, Pubs, Lounges and Hotels, a Business to Business session with Wine distributors and wholesalers and potential wine importers.
