Citi FM, Metro TV and its partners will today [Thursday] put smiles on the faces of some persons who were affected by last Wednesday’s flood and fire in Accra.
The project, which is being spearheaded by Citi FM and Metro TV, in collaboration with Helping Hand Medical Outreach and its partners, will donate items and other essentials to the victims in the Adabraka area.In addition to the donation, a mini-clinic will be organized for residents.
The community outreach programme will take place at the Adabraka Sahara park from 10:30am to 1:30pm.
Operations Manager of Citi FM, Philip Ashon explained that, “as a radio station and of course, Metro TV as a TV station and all our partners felt that it was not just the people at Circle who suffered on that day; there were quite a number of people who lost both family, friends and quite a bit of property.”
According to him, there was the need to reach out to the other communities who had fallen victim to the unfortunate situation that happened on June 3rd.
“We are kicking off the campaign and the short-term vision for it is what we will do today here in Adabraka – very close to the Sahara park which was one of the worst affected areas here,” he added.
Mr. Ashon entreated the general public, corporate organisations and groups to donate to the cause to help the affected persons get their lives back together.
“Anyone else who has a donation in whatever form is invited to help by bringing it to Citi FM and we will hand it over to those who have been affected,” he said.
He stressed that this is an opportunity for persons who have been touched by the magnitude of the disaster to offer their service to mankind.
“This is an opportunity to show we care. We are therefore inviting all medical and non-medical personnel to be present today to lend a helping hand.”
