The party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to arrive tonight from Germany to join the mourners.
Speaking to Citi News, the first Vice Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay said all is set for the burial of Adam Mahama.
He stated that the autopsy report on Adam Mahama is ready, adding “a lot of party members especially, the executives are trying to gather today and tomorrow in Bolga so that they could give him a fitting burial…we are all trying to get there.”
Blay indicated that the main focus of party members is the funeral scheduled to take place on Saturday therefore all questions relating to unity in the NPP should shelved for now.
He argued that “it doesn’t take a day to build so there will be small, small petty differences but we are working together.”
“NPP is not the only party that has differences…but you shouldn’t go to the extent of committing murder and I don’t think the differences we are having should have led to this.”
Meanwhile, the Upper East Regional Minister James Zuugah Tiigah told Citi News there is calm within the region days after the death of Adam Mahama.
He also added that the region was mourning the death of the late NPP Upper East regional chairman.
In a related development, the Upper Regional Police Command has put measures in place to ensure security in Bolgatanga, ahead of the burial.
The Regional Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Thomas Agbanyo said: “Security and protection will be paramount because we have unleashed all our men on the streets to make sure that no security threat will be imposed on the people of Bolga.”
