Thousands of Ghana cedis and possibly millions may have been lost to the state due to the demolition of a one storey school block at Ayalolo in Accra.
The school, which forms part of the millennium school projects, was demolished about three weeks ago after a new contractor reportedly took over the project.
[contextly_sidebar id=”qYZXfJJHhi5EuPcT63Zn5ACBh3LToL4j”]Some residents in the area told Citi News that the project began under the late President John Evans Atta-Mills about six years ago but complained about the slow pace of work on the project.
The project, when completed is expected to host all the cluster of schools at Ayalolo, numbering about 10.
Citi News has learnt that the structure was demolished after the new contractor noticed that the structure was built with inferior materials.
The previous contractor is also reported to have sued the Accra Metropolitan Assembly for canceling the contract.
Attempts to get a response from the AMA has so far proved futile.
