Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has reacted to making the 26-man World Cup squad for Brazil.
The 22-year old, whose main trait is the power of his runs, was called up by Kwesi Appiah at Monday’s squad naming at the Ghana FA Secretariat.
All credit goes to his boss at Parma, Roberto Donadoni.
“When I returned from Germany he talked to me one on one and he told me that if I want play regularly I have to work hard. And I think the results are there for all to see,” he told Happy FM in Accra.
“Naturally I’m very delighted that I’ve been called up. I think it’s a reward for hard work and I hope to prove my mettle,” he went on.
Donadoni himself was famed for his pace and technique, so he may well know what he is telling the Ghanaian.
Afriyie has made 26 Serie A appearances for Parma this season.
