Medeama SC are calling on companies and individuals to come to their aid as they aim for a strong showing in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup championship.
The Ghana FA Cup champions are crying over huge budget involved in the African showpiece despite receivingthe financial support of GHC 50,000 from the organizers of the FA Cup.
Accra representative of the club, Edmund Ackah, says the money spent in the first preliminary stage against Panthers of Equatorial Guinea is unbearable and the club can only continue in the championship if they get financial support.
“We spent GHC 160,000 in the home and away games of the preliminary stage, so if the team doesn’t get any support for the rest of the matches we can’t continue,” he told Allsports.com.gh
“To get to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, means we need to play a total of 8 matches on home and away basis, but the cost element is unbearable, hence we are calling on Ghanaians to come to our aid.”
The Ghana Football Association in a way to reduce the financial burden on the 4 club playing in Africa gave each club $20,000, but it seems it is far below their budget.
Medeama clash with Maz Fez of Morocco, a former champions of the Confederation Cup in the first round of the competition, between the weekend of 28th February and 2nd March.
